A new chapter in reggae music is about to unfold as Zimbabwean-born reggae artist SANDY prepares to release her much-anticipated debut EP, Signature, on February 28, 2025. This milestone marks the culmination of years of dedication, passion, and perseverance in the reggae music scene.

Sandy, born Sandra Mudenda, has carved her own path in the music industry, starting from humble beginnings as a cashier at Royal Ras Centre in Cape Town. It was there that she was captivated by the authentic reggae rhythms of One Drop Band, an experience that ultimately set her on a transformative musical journey. Inspired by the powerful dub sections and roots melodies, she joined the band and quickly found herself in the studio, working alongside the renowned producer Terrence “King Dread” Mpakula.
Before making waves in Cape Town, Sandy honed her craft in Harare, Zimbabwe, as a backup vocalist for various reggae outfits, including Tawanda Mwana wa Charlie & Vybez Crew. Her years of experience in the Zimbabwean and South African reggae scenes have shaped her into a formidable artist, earning her recognition as a key figure in the Western Cape reggae circuit.
Now, with Signature, Sandy is ready to share her story with the world. The five-track Roots Rock Reggae EP showcases her songwriting prowess, with all lyrics penned by Sandy herself. The project is fully produced, arranged, mixed, and mastered by King Dread, ensuring a high-quality reggae experience that stays true to the genre’s roots.
“This EP is more than just music; it’s a testament to my journey, my struggles, and my triumphs. I want the world to feel my passion and connect with my story,” Sandy shared ahead of the release.
