HARARE – A new Zimbabwean feature film, SIZOLOBOLA, is set to make its debut on 4 July at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, bringing to the big screen a moving story of love, family, culture, and reconciliation.

The film follows the journey of Njabulo Mzilikazi and Makatendeka Seke, two young Zimbabweans who meet and fall deeply in love while living in South Africa. Determined to build a future together, the couple soon discovers that their path to marriage is complicated by long-standing tensions, misunderstandings, and unresolved grievances between their families.
What begins as a celebration of love evolves into a powerful exploration of forgiveness, acceptance, and unity. Through a blend of humour, drama, and emotional storytelling, SIZOLOBOLA examines how people can overcome historical divisions and cultural differences in pursuit of a shared future.
Producers say the film seeks to encourage Zimbabweans to focus on common values rather than differences, while celebrating the country’s rich cultural diversity. The story highlights themes of reconciliation, mutual respect, dialogue, and national cohesion, offering audiences a timely reminder that understanding and compassion can help heal deep-seated divisions.
The production boasts a strong cast featuring some of Zimbabwe’s most recognisable performers. Comedian and actress Madam Boss takes on the role of Makatendeka Seke, while Exult Ncube stars as Njabulo Mzilikazi. They are joined by Jesesi Mjungoshi, Madlela Skhobokhobo, Charles Muzemba, Antony Tongani, Annie Bridget Paradza, and Stephen Chigorimbo.
At the heart of the film is a simple but profound question: Can love conquer all? Through the experiences of Njabulo and Makatendeka, SIZOLOBOLA presents a hopeful answer, demonstrating that while history may shape people’s identities, it does not have to determine their future.
The film’s premiere will also mark the official launch of AFRICIN, a new Zimbabwean streaming platform and mobile application dedicated to showcasing Zimbabwean films, filmmakers, and authentic African stories. AFRICINE aims to connect local content with global audiences while creating sustainable opportunities for creatives and contributing to the growth of Zimbabwe’s film industry.
The SIZOLOBOLA premiere will take place on 4 July at Ster-Kinekor, Joina City, beginning at 5:30 PM. Tickets are available at Ticketbay, MedOrange Pharmacies, Crown Pharmacies, and Ster-Kinekor Joina City, priced at US$20 for ordinary tickets and US$50 for VIP access.
Organisers have invited film lovers to attend the event and be part of what they describe as the beginning of an ambitious journey to take Zimbabwean stories to audiences around the world.
