The Zimbabwe Spelling Bee National Finals 2024, taking place from the 3rd to the 4th of September at Samuel Centenary College in Belvedere, Harare, promises to be a thrilling and inspiring event.

Zimbabwe Spelling Bee, a leading educational initiative committed to promoting literacy and cultural exchange, is excited to announce the upcoming National Finals. This prestigious event will see 400 student spellers from 121 schools across Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces competing at the highest level. The competition will be divided into two categories, with junior spellers taking the stage on September 3rd and seniors on September 4th.

This year’s competition has seen unprecedented participation, with nearly 10,000 students entering regional contests held in every province of Zimbabwe. Harare province alone hosted four zonal competitions, leading to significant representation at the National Finals. The enthusiasm and dedication of these young learners reflect the growing importance of literacy and language proficiency in the country.
The top three winners in both the junior and senior categories will earn the prestigious opportunity to represent Zimbabwe at the African Spelling Bee competitions, scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, in December 2024. This continental event will bring together the brightest young minds from across Africa, offering them a platform to showcase their linguistic talents on an international stage.
Since its inception in 2015, Zimbabwe Spelling Bee has empowered thousands of students by enhancing their spelling skills and fostering a deep appreciation for language and literacy. The program not only prepares students for academic success but also promotes cross-cultural understanding through its affiliation with the African Spelling Bee Consortium. Past winners have proudly represented Zimbabwe in global competitions, including the renowned SCRIPPS USA Spelling Bee.”
