On Friday, the 16th of August, 2024, Scream Club came alive with the much-anticipated Zim Turn Up event—a celebration of Zimbabwean music that drew a lively crowd eager to connect with their favorite artists. The evening kicked off with an electrifying lineup of DJs, setting a high-energy tone as they spun tracks that resonated deeply with the audience. For hours, the club was charged with excitement, but as the night unfolded, it became clear that not all aspects of the event would live up to expectations.

At precisely 1:18 AM, Zambian artist Dizmo took the stage, injecting a different flavor into the Zimbabwean-centric event. While his performance was energetic, the momentum in the room began to dip noticeably. Despite Dizmo’s best efforts, the crowd, predominantly Zimbabwean, seemed disengaged—some attendees even took the opportunity to catch a quick nap during his set. This unexpected lull was a surprising contrast to the otherwise vibrant atmosphere, leaving the audience eagerly awaiting the next act.
Their patience was rewarded at 2:15 AM when the night’s main attraction, Holy 10, made his grand entrance. The crowd erupted with excitement, the energy in the room surging as fans anticipated a powerful performance. Holy 10, renowned for his dynamic stage presence and impactful music, aimed to deliver a show that would be remembered. However, the night’s technical difficulties began to overshadow his efforts. Repeated microphone failures caused frustration for both the artist and the audience. At one point, Holy 10 even questioned whether the sound issues were deliberate, hinting at possible sabotage—a tense moment that added an unexpected edge to the event.
Despite the challenges, Holy 10 remained determined to give his best. However, the absence of Kae Chaps, another highly anticipated artist, left many fans disappointed.
