In a landmark initiative aimed at amplifying Zimbabwe’s diverse artistic voices, earGROUND Media is launching #VoicesFrom_, a series of monthly concerts set to debut this March at Harare’s Theatre in the Park. The initiative is designed to spotlight talent from Zimbabwe’s regions, particularly areas and communities that have historically been underrepresented in the arts.
With Zimbabwe’s vibrant creative ecosystem often overshadowed by Harare’s dominance, #VoicesFrom_ seeks to bridge the gap by showcasing exceptional artists from outside the capital. Each edition will feature performances by artists from a specific region, giving them a platform to connect with broader audiences, media, and potential collaborators.

The announcement has been met with enthusiastic support from artists and cultural figures, who have praised earGROUND Media for its commitment to empowering marginalized talent:
• Michael K Banda: “earGROUND AFRICA is working overtime to promote arts and get every artist out there.”
• UK-based drummer Carlton Mparutsa: “Now this is the true definition of ’Promotion.’”
• Sasha Lishomwa Chiedzo: “Thanks for the initiative, my bro. You are always an artistic soldier leading from the front. Be blessed.”
• Da Nte: “This is an incredible initiative! Showcasing talent from regions outside Harare is a brilliant way to celebrate diversity and give marginalized artists the recognition they deserve. Kudos to earGROUND for championing local talent!”
• Flying Bantu, a Victoria Falls-based band: “This is the best news yet! Zim needs these kinds of initiatives. Watch this space and the positives it will bring.”
Others, like Tafi Aartz, Tinashe Banhamombe, and Rachel Nyashawashe Njombs, also expressed their gratitude, highlighting the long-overdue need for such a platform in Zimbabwe.
#VoicesFrom_ builds on earGROUND Media’s previous successes, including the Kombi Station, a mobile media platform launched in 2022 that spotlighted talent from remote areas. While the Kombi Station focused on documenting and giving visibility to these artists, #VoicesFrom_ goes a step further by bringing them into spaces where they can access new opportunities, such as bookings, collaborations, and media exposure.

“We realized we needed to create a stage where these talents could be seen in spaces that offer more opportunities for bookings, collaborations, and media visibility,” Plot Mhako the founder and creative director at earGROUND MEDIA
To ensure the artists’ success, earGROUND will manage logistics, including travel, accommodation, rehearsals, and publicity. Proceeds from ticket sales will be shared with the performers, fostering a mutually beneficial arrangement. Additionally, earGROUND plans to connect artists with radio and TV stations, newspapers, and industry promoters during their time in Harare.
A Step Toward Transforming the Music Industry
In 2022, earGROUND co-hosted the AMPLIFAYA Festival, which showcased artists from nine provinces to great acclaim. #VoicesFrom_ takes this vision further by not only celebrating talent but also fostering connections that help artists thrive. The initiative is expected to inspire collaboration, boost regional representation, and create a richer cultural landscape for Zimbabwe.

“With the #VoicesFrom_ initiative, earGROUND Media will redefine the local music scene by ensuring that every voice is heard, celebrated, and amplified.” Plot Mhako
The Theatre in the Park has entered into a partnership with earGROUND MEDIA whose details will be unveiled soon. More Information about #VOICESFROM_ coming soon!
