Written, directed, and produced by Zimbabwean-South African powerhouse Tendayi Nyeke, LOVED OUT has already made waves across South Africa following its national rollout on 26 September 2025. Now, the rainbow riot of drama, satire, and sisterhood heads north — and Harare audiences are ready.
The film follows Ruva (Bahumi Mhlongo), a chaotic culinary influencer desperate to thrust her family restaurant, RU AND GLO’S, into stardom. Her mother, the fiery Gloria (Khabonina Qubeka), complicates matters when she’s kidnapped over church funds tied to a criminal syndicate. With one week to raise R1 million, Ruva plunges into a whirlwind of online competitions, church scandals, and a rekindled rivalry with her wealthy high school nemesis, Linden.
What follows is a hilarious, high-stakes spiral of faking it for the ’gram, cooking under pressure, and dodging gangsters — all set in a vibrant African cityscape bursting with youth, style, and unfiltered truth.
