Shingai has released the official video for Mhondoro, a striking visual rooted in ancestry, water and Zimbabwean cultural memory.
Inspired by the traditional Shona song Dzinomwa Muna Save, the track invokes ancestral lion spirits as guardians of the land and its rivers. Shingai turns that familiar childhood refrain into something urgent: a warning against the pollution of sacred waters and a call to protect what belongs to future generations.
The video brings that message to life through water, landscape, movement and Shingai’s commanding presence. Its styling feels ceremonial but contemporary, placing Zimbabwean heritage inside a bold, forward-facing visual world.

Mhondoro is the first release from EarthSonic’s upcoming Flow project, which brings together women artists from across the world to tell stories about water, identity and survival.
The official video now opens the next phase of the release, with a series of remixes set to follow, including Tapiwa, Matt Black, Hibotep, May OnMars and R3ign Drop.
Shingai has taken a song many Zimbabweans grew up with and given it fresh purpose.
