In an official statement dated 17 September 2026, Salif Keita’s management, through One World Records CEO Carolina Vallejo, says it “has not been in any conversation with Tamba Events” regarding a proposed Harare show in May 2026.

The statement further says that even if Tamba Events had communicated with anyone from their team, that would not have granted the promoter rights to publicly disclose details because negotiations and contracts are handled confidentially.
Keita’s management also says its general exclusivity arrangement is three months before and after a performance date, unless otherwise agreed in a contract.
The team is now demanding that Tamba Events produce any contracts it claims to have entered into concerning Salif Keita. It has also threatened legal action against Tamba Events and demanded “an official apology and a public withdrawal” of what it describes as false claims.
Salif Keita is coming to Zimbabwe to perform on the 26th of September at the Ecobank Legends Night Africa.
The response comes after Tamba Events instituted legal proceedings against Ecobank Zimbabwe and Intotal Band, seeking US$45,166.67 in alleged damages as well as interdictory relief connected to Salif Keita’s booking and the upcoming Ecobank Legends Night Africa 2.0.

Salif Keita says that he is excited to be coming to Zimbabwe this 26th of September for the Ecobank Legends Night \ Africa. “Zimbabwe is my friend. Zimbabwe is my family, my parents. I love coming to Zimbabwe.”
