Harare, Zimbabwe – The inaugural Reality TV Production Masterclass wrapped up on a high note after three days of intensive learning, networking, and industry engagement, leaving participants inspired and better equipped to navigate the rapidly evolving world of unscripted content production.
The pioneering programme brought together producers, filmmakers, broadcasters, digital content creators, and aspiring storytellers from across Zimbabwe for a deep dive into the business and craft of reality television. Designed to bridge skills gaps and expose creatives to international best practices, the masterclass focused on key areas such as reality television development, format creation, storytelling techniques, production workflows, and distribution strategies.
Beyond technical training, the event created a vibrant platform for collaboration and the exchange of ideas among creatives committed to telling authentic African stories capable of resonating with both local and international audiences.
Responding to emerging global content trends, the programme also featured a dedicated session on micro-dramas, a fast-growing short-form storytelling format designed for mobile-first audiences. Participants explored how micro-dramas are transforming audience engagement and creating new opportunities for content production, distribution, and monetisation across digital platforms.
The masterclass featured an impressive line-up of facilitators and industry experts, including Grant Sission, Shahir Chundra, Wesley Masilo Makgamatha, Monalisa Chisango, Kaya Counter, and Happy Dhliwayo. Their sessions provided participants with practical insights drawn from years of experience in television, film, and content production.
Special guest speakers Siza Mukwedini and Joe Njagu further enriched the programme, sharing lessons from their professional journeys and encouraging participants to continue elevating Zimbabwe’s creative industry through innovation, excellence, and compelling storytelling.
The enthusiasm and engagement displayed throughout the three days highlighted the growing appetite for professional development within Zimbabwe’s creative sector and underscored the immense potential of local talent to produce content with global appeal.

The event concluded with a major announcement from CineSprints. Building on the success of the masterclass and the overwhelming response from participants, the organisation revealed plans to bring its internationally acclaimed 72-Hour Film Sprint to Zimbabwe later this year, presenting a new opportunity for local filmmakers to test their skills in a fast-paced, collaborative filmmaking challenge.
Organisers expressed gratitude to the facilitators, guest speakers, partners, and participants whose contributions helped make the inaugural Reality TV Production Masterclass a resounding success.
As the curtains close on the first edition of the programme, participants leave with new knowledge, stronger professional networks, and renewed confidence to contribute to the growth of Zimbabwe’s film and television industry.

With exciting opportunities already on the horizon, including the upcoming 72-Hour Film Sprint, the future of Zimbabwean content creation appears brighter than ever.
