Born Omobosola Grace Adegbite, the world now knows her as Ossi Grace a rising Afro-Soul force whose music glows with honesty, vulnerability and quiet strength. Her journey began at age 11, in a moment she still describes as electric: the day she held Rihanna’s Girl Like Me album. It wasn’t just music to her it was possibility. It was destiny whispering.
Growing up in Nigeria, Ossi learned early that life rarely hands out ease. Yet every obstacle sharpened her creativity, turning hardship into a palette for her art. When she eventually moved to the UK, her music transformed once more stripped of excess and shaped into something purer, deeper, and unmistakably hers.
Her unique voice soon attracted notable collaborators, including Nigerian hip-hop legend M.I. Abaga, who featured her haunting vocals on his 2022 track Crazy. That moment became a spark one that lit the path she now walks with clarity and confidence.
Being named this month’s Apple Music’s African Rising Star, Ossi Grace steps into a defining chapter with her latest EP, In A Hopeless Place. The project is a daring, heart-bare exploration of love discovered in the most unlikely of emotional landscapes. For Ossi, Nigeria has always been a place of contrast where beauty fights through instability, and people cling fiercely to the little good they find. That duality fuels the EP.
Apple Music’s “Africa Rising” playlist for 2025 features a variety of burgeoning African artists across different genres, including
Nigerian artists like Ossi Grace and Damie, South African artists such as Ciza and Lusanda, and Ghanaian artists including AratheJay and 99 PHACES.
In its opener, You (intro), she describes love as “a rose sprouting out of concrete rubble” fragile, breathtaking, and almost impossible. But the EP doesn’t shy away from truth. It journeys through the fears, survival instincts, and emotional scars many carry from environments where hope feels rationed. Those same fears nearly cost her the love she held dear. Yet the story doesn’t end in loss. It ends in awakening.
In finding love in a hopeless place, Ossi Grace found herself and now she is lighting the way for others.
“Where we failed, we learnt. Where we cried, we laughed again,” she reflects—words that capture the EP’s heartbeat. The project ultimately reveals a love rebuilt, reshaped, and reclaimed.
