A new festival has been launched in Zimbabwe. The inaugural Oliver Mtukudzi International Festival of the Arts (OMIFA) set for September 21-22, 2024, at Pakare Paye Arts Center, Norton, Zimbabwe celebrates the legacy of the legendary Tuku with music, dance, art, and community festivities.

Announcing the festival, Samantha Mtukudzi the director and also daughter of the late music icon said, “OMIFA is dedicated to honoring the life and work of the legendary musician and national hero, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, who passed away on January 23, 2019. “
Known and loved by millions, Tuku’s musical legacy continues to inspire. The festival theme, DAIRAI, SABELANI, ANSWER!, calls on communities to celebrate Tuku’s illustrious achievements and to unite in building a promising future.
Festival highlights include a commemorative dinner, a variety of workshops, and captivating performances by leading artists in music, dance, art, craft, fashion, theatre, and film. There will also be fun activities designed especially for children.
