Fresh off a headline show in Canada, celebrated Zimbabwean singer, songwriter, and musician Gemma Griffiths today unveils her latest single ‘GOLD’, available now on all major digital streaming platforms. The video will premiere on the 5th of May. The single marks the fourth release from her highly anticipated debut album GEMMA, set to drop on May 23, 2025.
Produced by her longtime collaborator and renowned Zimbabwean beatmaker Manuchie, ‘GOLD’ is a poignant tribute to Harare — the city that shaped her voice and vision. With its rich Afro-fusion undertones, gentle alt-pop layers, and Gemma’s unmistakable, soul-stirring vocals, the track is a heartfelt reflection on memory, identity, and the quiet beauty of home.
Accompanying the single is a compelling visual piece created in partnership with FABRIK PARTY — Zimbabwe’s cutting-edge art and design collective founded by Ulenni Okandlovu. Emerging from the Skeyi & Strobo Agency’s Community Activation Projects in 2020, FABRIK PARTY has become a hub for artistic innovation and cultural celebration, blending fashion, music, and visual storytelling.
Far more than a conventional music video, the ‘GOLD’ visual is an evocative artistic statement — bursting with colour, style, and a deep-rooted Zimbabwean spirit. Co-directed by Emil Zendera and Scott Mutasa, the video channels the warmth and energy of Harare through vibrant imagery and bold styling.
“GOLD is a voice note of love — to Harare, and to the parts of myself I’m still discovering,” Gemma shares. “Working with my friends at FABRIK PARTY made the visual feel like home. The spirit of the collective is fast, fearless, and full of heart — just like this city.”
