Zimbabwe today launched the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at the Harare International Conference Centre, with this year’s campaign placing a sharp focus on the rising threat of digital violence.

The 2025 theme — “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls” — calls for collective action to protect women and girls from online harassment, cyberbullying, image-based abuse, and other forms of technology-facilitated GBV.
The 16 Days of Activism is an international campaign that runs annually from 25 November to 10 December, aimed at raising awareness, influencing policy, and mobilising communities to prevent and end all forms of violence against women and girls.
It serves as a global reminder that GBV is not only a violation of human rights but a barrier to development, peace, and equality.
During this period, everyone has a role to play.
Government, civil society, faith leaders, traditional leaders, the private sector, media, and ordinary citizens are expected to:
Speak out against GBV in all its forms, both online and offline.
Support survivors and promote safe reporting mechanisms.
Advocate for stronger laws and responsible digital behaviour.
Engage in awareness activities within communities, workplaces, and online platforms.
Promote a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability.
