Harare, Zimbabwe – When the lights go up on a major Zimbabwean music event, chances are Martin Chabuka has had a hand in the magic. The multi-talented industry professional, known for his work as the artists manager for rising star Nyasha David, has rapidly established himself as one of the country’s most sought-after creative directors and stage performance experts.

Chabuka’s career in directing took off in a big way in 2022 when he made his debut at the prestigious National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA). In that pivotal role, he was responsible for shaping the live performances of some of the nation’s top acts, including Nutty O, Nyasha David, Chipoko Chasauro, and Janet Manyowa.
Martin Chabuka is a distinguished and award winning Zimbabwean dancer and choreographer celebrated for his significant contributions to the country’s dance community. Notably, he directed the Real Flex Dance Group, which was honored as the Outstanding Dance Group at the 2019 National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA).
“I was groomed by two industry heavyweights, Leonard Mapfumo and Napoleon Nyanhi,” Chabuka shared. “Their mentorship was crucial in setting me on this path.”
His journey with NAMA continued until the 2025 ceremony, where he once again commanded the creative stage for a roster of diverse talent, including Oriyano, Delroy Shewe, Bagga, and Atenda Chinx. Reflecting on his years with the event, Chabuka expressed his gratitude for the collaborative spirit: “I’m happy to have walked that journey with Jacaranda Culture & Media Corporation (JCMC), the big team behind making the event a success.”
Martin Chabuka’s influence, however, extends far beyond the NAMA stage. He has become a go-to creative mind for major album launches, stepping into the roles of both creative director and stage manager. His portfolio includes high-profile projects for Zimbabwean music giants such as Jah Prayzah, breakout star Saint Floew, and the talented Nisha Ts.
