Widely regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most successful comedy exports, Jonasi has built a global reputation through his energetic performances, clever cultural observations and relatable storytelling. His career has taken him to more than 20 countries, earning international recognition along the way. Among his accolades are receiving the Golden Buzzer and finishing fifth on America’s Got Talent, winning the 2023 Boston Comedy Festival, and being voted Audience Choice Winner at the 2023 Jersey City Comedy Festival.
The event is presented by Passport & Punchlines, a multicultural comedy platform founded by Zimbabwean-Canadian entrepreneur and event producer Sibonile Chimanikire. The initiative brings together audiences from diverse backgrounds through comedy rooted in culture, identity and shared human experiences.
In partnership with the City of Mississauga, the show will be hosted at the city-owned Meadowvale Theatre, a modern 405-seat venue known for staging professional live performances. The collaboration reflects Passport & Punchlines’ commitment to delivering high-quality multicultural entertainment in premier performance spaces.
Joining Jonasi on the bill is a strong lineup of comedians representing Canada’s diverse comedy landscape. Zimbabwean-born, Toronto-based comedian Mufaro Mbudzi brings his signature storytelling and cultural humour, having previously performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs Vancouver, Yuk Yuk’s and numerous comedy clubs across Canada.
Italian-Canadian comedian Marco Giorgio, whose energetic performances and crowd work have quickly earned him a growing following, will also take to the stage. Giorgio gained widespread attention after winning the 2023 Next Italian Comic competition with more than 10,000 votes worldwide.
Completing the announced lineup is DLN B, a Scarborough-born comedian whose authentic Indo-Canadian perspective has resonated with audiences across Toronto’s comedy circuit. He has appeared at Yuk Yuk’s, Comedy Bar Bloor and Free Times Café, among other venues. A surprise guest performer is also expected to join the show.
Beyond presenting internationally recognised acts, Passport & Punchlines is committed to nurturing emerging talent by creating opportunities for local comedians to perform alongside established names.
“Passport & Punchlines was created to bring people together through laughter while celebrating the cultures and experiences that shape our communities,” said founder Sibonile Chimanikire. “We are excited to welcome Learnmore Jonasi to Canada and equally proud to provide a stage where local and emerging comedians can share their talent with new audiences.”
The event promises an evening of laughter, cultural exchange and world-class entertainment led by one of Zimbabwe’s most celebrated comedians, while highlighting the diversity and vibrancy of Canada’s comedy scene.
