Harare, Zimbabwe – The Jordan Zemura Foundation will this Saturday host a youth football and community engagement initiative aimed at empowering young people through sport, mentorship, and inclusion. The event will bring together invited primary schools for a day of football, coaching, and youth-focused activities designed to inspire the next generation.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, 30 May, at Wise Owl Group of Schools in Westgate, Harare, starting at 8am. The programme will feature a mixed boys and girls primary schools football tournament, alongside a dedicated girls coaching and mentorship session focused on encouraging greater participation of girls in sport.
Eight invited primary schools will compete in a 7-aside football tournament, with all participating learners set to receive prizes and goody bags. Organisers say the initiative seeks to create an engaging and memorable experience for children while promoting values such as teamwork, discipline, confidence, and leadership.
The initiative is being supported by several partners including Wise Owl Group of Schools, Coral Soft, Dravental Car Hire, Glytime Foods, and Cimas, who are contributing towards logistics, wellness support, mobility, hygiene products, and community engagement efforts.
The Foundation said the event is part of its broader mission to use sport as a platform for youth empowerment and positive social impact.
“This initiative is about inspiring the next generation, creating opportunity, and ensuring young girls and boys alike feel seen, included, and empowered through sport and mentorship,” the Foundation said ahead of the event.
Jordan Zemura is a Zimbabwean professional footballer who plays for Udinese Calcio in Italy’s Serie A and represents the Zimbabwe national football team. Although he grew up in the United Kingdom, Zemura has maintained strong ties with Zimbabwe and continues to invest in community development initiatives through his Foundation.
During off-seasons, he regularly returns home to support projects including the donation of boreholes to rural schools, construction of sanitation facilities, and the provision of football kits and youth support programmes.
Through its ongoing initiatives, the Jordan Zemura Foundation continues to position sport as a powerful tool for youth development, inclusion, and community transformation across Zimbabwe.
