Innovate Institute, a prestigious boarding and day school located just about 20 km from Harare CBD in Glen Forest, Borrowdale has established itself as a beacon of academic, sporting and artistic excellence.

As evidenced by their achievements so far, the school does not only boast a strong academic record with brilliant pass rates or success in sporting disciplines but also nurtures students who are God-fearing, innovative, and responsible.
As part of its holistic educational approach, the school has fostered a vibrant music culture, with its music group, Vocals Music Ministry, set to release its first album titled “Nditungamire” in January 2025.
The group who are already in the studio, recently announced that they are seeking to elevate its work by collaborating with the renowned gospel musicians Baba naMai Charamba.
Inno Sibanda, a software engineering student and alumnus of Innovate Institute, who leads the group said he was excited about the potential partnership.
“It would be a great honor to have Baba and Mai Charamba feature on our album. They are icons in the gospel music industry, and their experience and influence would bring a whole new dimension to our project,” he said.
The Vocals Music Ministry’s music style is deeply rooted in the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) tradition, renowned for its spiritually uplifting gospel music.
Remember Glenview Seventh-Day Adventist, the group behind the hit anthem “Rwizi Jordan”? Or Pastor Aaron Rusikira, the Village Preacher, who released hits like “Dry Bones” and “Mwanangu” from his album Loud Thoughts?
These are just some of the SDA-based musicians who have made a significant impact on Zimbabwe’s music landscape.
Award-winning musician Everton Mlalazi is another remarkable talent within the Seventh-Day Adventist community, known for creating wonders with his music.“
The Vocals Music Ministry aspires to join this great list of SDA-based musicians. Their collaboration with Baba and Mai Charamba will bring a wealth of experience to the project and further elevate the work of the talented students at Innovate Institute.
Under the leadership of Mr. Chaitezvi, the school’s music teacher, arts and culture are fully integrated into the curriculum, enabling students to explore and refine their creative talents while excelling academically. Last year, the school invited musician Sebastian Magacha for a stellar performance during their awards ceremony.
The music album project is an indicator of the school’s dedication to producing well-rounded individuals who excel in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Innovate Institute is a registered center for both ZIMSEC and Cambridge Examinations, offering students the opportunity to choose from multiple academic pathways.
The curriculum is complemented by state-of-the-art facilities, including advanced science and computer laboratories, which provide students with ample exposure and excellent practical learning experiences.
In sports, the school’s teams have consistently won trophies, with notable achievements in soccer and netball, including a national championship.
Over the years, there has been a growing trend of schools engaging in musical projects that influence the broader local music scene. ZRP High School, just some few kilometres away has undertaken similar initiatives, and other schools like Msengezi High School and Makumbe have also recorded albums.
Notably, Msengezi High School has collaborated with Guspy Warrior on the song “Vana Inhaka” while Dorcas Moyo’s recently released “Ndinokutungamirira” featuring First Class Group of Schools.
Ms. Anopa Sinawela, a senior teacher at Innovate Institute, also emphasized the school’s focus on discipline and its role in creating an environment conducive to learning.
“We ensure that our students remain focused on their education by providing an environment that supports this goal. We have qualified teachers in all areas, and we are proud that we have not encountered issues like bullying or other challenges that affect students at this school,” she remarked.
