Zimbabwean singer-songwriter Gemma Griffiths debuts her latest release, ‘Where I’m Going,’ available now on all major digital streaming platforms. Blending Griffiths’ distinctive style with innovative production, the song serves as a convergence of musical realms. It incorporates a sample from the timeless classic “Chabuda Hapana” by the late jazz icon Bob Nyabinde, whose passing in December left behind an enduring legacy.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the single, Gemma pays homage to Bob Nyabinde and his profound influence on her and countless other artists.

Bob Nyabinde wasn’t just a musical legend but a guiding light for many artists, myself included,” she shares. “It’s both poignant and gratifying to finally share a song he cherished. Honoring him through this music is a tremendous privilege, ensuring his spirit lives on.”

Enhancing the song’s richness, Albert Nyabinde, the talented son of Bob Nyabinde, lends his saxophone skills, infusing additional soul and depth into the composition.

Albert expresses his gratitude to Gemma for reigniting the music legacy: “I’m thankful to Gemma for reviving the music. It’s an honor to have artists of her caliber honoring my father. His music will forever resonate within us. I believe he watches over us from heaven, urging us to continue our journey.”

‘Where I’m Going’ follows Gemma Griffiths’ breakthrough hit, ‘Ndichatarisa,’ which dominated airwaves in Zimbabwe and gained international acclaim with over 70 million views on TikTok, solidifying Gemma’s status as a rising global sensation. Demonstrating her artistic growth, Gemma ended a remarkable year with a captivating performance in the UK at ‘Afro, Amapiano meets Reggae,’ sharing the stage with industry heavyweights from Jamaica, Nigeria, Uganda, and South Africa. Eager to maintain momentum, she collaborated with Leo Magozz on ‘My Baby,’ followed by ‘Ndino Pembera’ from the Chillspot Records stable, and most recently joined forces with Bling4 on ‘Vana Venyu.’
