Born in Bulawayo and raised in both Bulawayo and Harare, Andy initially embarked on a career in IT before making a bold transition into filmmaking. Remarkably, he is largely self-taught in this field, showcasing his natural talent and passion for visual storytelling.

Andy Cutta has firmly established himself as one of the leading figures in Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry, particularly in the music video sector. His creative vision and unwavering dedication to quality have made him one of the most sought-after directors in the country. Over the years, he has collaborated with top Zimbabwean artists, including Jah Prayzah, Tamy Moyo, and Sandra Ndebele. His work has not only gained national acclaim but has also been featured on DStv, expanding his audience across the African continent.

Notably, at the Film and Television Awards, Andy Cutta won Outstanding Music Video for producing Takura’s “Zino Irema” music video. Additionally, he secured a ZIMA Award for his work on “Alleluyah” by Roki and ExQ.

From Hobby to Professional Career

Andy Cutta’s journey into video production began in 2011 as a hobby while he was working in South Africa. Despite starting as an amateur, his determination to improve led him to undertake extensive training and research. By 2012, after returning to Zimbabwe, he decided to pursue filmmaking professionally, launching his career in commercial video production. This competition provided a platform for both male and female models in Zimbabwe’s fashion and commercial industry, challenging them through various tasks and mentorship from industry experts.

After cementing his position as the “go-to guy” for music videos, one of the other projects he worked on was Strut ‘N’ Pose, Zimbabwe’s Ultimate Model Reality TV Show.

In recent years, Andy Cutta has continued to push the boundaries of Zimbabwean music videos. His latest work includes the music video for Tamy Moyo’s song “Bvunza” from her album “Bold”.
