The initial seed was planted, as many great ideas are, on a napkin stained with whiskey and late-night dreams. Friends envisioned a one-of-a-kind haven among the trees. By late 2022, “Version One” was nearly there—cabins built, solar powering up, ready to welcome guests. Then came a phone call on an October evening that gutted them: “We have a fire in the valley. It’s going to take the lodge.”
The Treehouse Chimanimani’s Fireproof Dream
A devastating seven hours reduced months of relentless work to ash. The blaze couldn’t touch their spirit, their determination, or their deep, abiding love for Chimanimani, a place they believe is one of Zimbabwe’s most beautiful and undiscovered treasures.
They rolled up their sleeves, called their crew, and started over. The result is a lodge that stands taller than ever, a powerful symbol of the resilience, creativity, and community spirit that defines Zimbabwe.
The Treehouse now offers four spectacular cabins (with two more coming in early 2026). Couples can soak up the views from Cabins 1 and 4, complete with king-sized beds and double-showers opening straight onto the deck. For families or groups, Cabins 2 and 3 feature a king bed downstairs and a charming mezzanine with two singles upstairs, plus outside showers for a truly immersive experience.
The interiors, designed by Milly McPhie, Editor of Design//Life Africa (@designlifeafrica), are a bold, beautiful embrace of African style heritage. The lodge doubles as an art gallery—DPA.ART @ The Treehouse—where all the vibrant pieces by Zimbabwean artists are for sale.
