At the event which was held on the 25th of March at the Leonardo Hotel in Sandton City, South Africa, Gilmore was announced as a winner and part of the 40 lists, alongside other 39 outstanding practitioners from across the African continent.

2023 kicked off on a very awkward patch, but I am glad that things are aligning and the work I do in the creative industry is being recognised across the African continent. It’s such an honour to be put alongside 39 other incredible Africans that are pushing boundaries in their respective fields, this shows that our future as a continent is very bright, we simply need to be deliberate about where we shine our lights. I recently celebrated my 33th birthday and what an incredible way to top it off by being awarded as Africa’s Forty under 40. Ngiyabonga kakhulu, makwande, kukhanye kubemhlophe“- Gilmore Tee
