Clevers Hotel will be hosting the ‘Valentine’s Movie Night’ with the premiere of the movie ‘ZveMoyo-Matters of the Heart’ at Clevers Hotel in Chiredzi on Saturday 18 February 2023 from 6 PM to 9 PM. The event will be characterized by the red carpet, couple games, dinner, comedy among other activities.

One of the organizers, the managing director for Sugar Dairies Prince Sithole confirmed that all is set for the movie premiere this weekend. Mutare-based creative director for Pikicha Afrika and film producer Ignatius ‘Igi’ Matope said that he is very excited to be premiering this production in Chiredzi for the first time and has hope that this will be a success while also creating synergies with other film makers in the area to grow the film industry at national level. The Lowveld Media Trust communications desk said that it’s an honour for their organization to be part of this great event. They added that this is also a great chance for youths in the lowveld to network with experienced filmmakers and actors to understand more about film.

The movie ‘ZveMoyo’ was produced and directed by Ignatius Matope and was written by Hope HK Masara. Meanwhile, it premiered in Mutare and Harare and gained a huge following when it aired on ZBCTV.

In the movie, we see Makomborero struggling to balance her home life and her relationship with her demanding boyfriend (Munya) when she becomes a guardian to her infant siblings following the death of their mother. Things take a complicated turn when an old friend moves back into the neighborhood. She has to make a very important decision on whether to stay in an abusive relationship or move on.

Clevers Hotel has hosted a couple of cultural events in the lowveld. Pikicha Afrika is a production house based in Mutare with numerous productions that aired on the national broadcaster.  Valentine’s day is celebrated every year on the 14th of February as a day of adoration and friendship. It has emerged as one of the most celebrated days in the world. Films and theatre have for years been used to celebrate love and friendship during Valentine’s. Chiredzi is endowed with so many talents and has very promising artists in music, film, comedy etc. In spite of the establishment of a community radio station Avuxeni FM, which has given so many platforms for artists, particularly music, more platforms and collaborations are still needed in the area.
