Hip Hop in Zimbabwe keeps on rising as artists and producers are working hard to produce some impressive projects. One artist who is putting in the grind is Basil Munyaradzi Gadzikwa aka KiNG AkTive who was formerly known as Kidd AkTive. The talented rapper recently dropped the hard hitting One Ari Ega (Mixtape) and is working on some dope project for 2022.

Born in Harare’s neighbourhood of Mabvuku in 1992 King Aktive started his music career in 2009 at that time he was known as KRYSYS and was part of WE LEGENDS MUSIC which later on had to split because of studies. He moved to Marondera to study automotive engineering at UMAA Institute in 2012.

His first ever song was titled “Got’em on the run“ featuring Prometheus founder of Mabhururu studios and later that year formed a group Team Halla Back (THB) which consisted of 3 rappers and 6 dancers.

Later on that year he was signed to the label BIGSHOTS imprint of Global Rec Inc together with other hip hop artists Sharky, Meyniak, Savage & Isis and at that time he had changed his name to KiDD Aktive. He dropped his first single Ndakumberi which got him some street recognition followed by his second single Tamba which made waves on major radio stations in Zimbabwe.

By 2014 King AkTive was performing at most hip-hop shows in the country alongside his label mates and in he same year he released his debut album titled TRAPPED. The project saw King Aktive getting nominated for Best Newcomer at the Zim Hip-Hop Awards 2014.

Later he dropped the remix to the song Mhamha Honai and featured two heavy weights Cal_vin & GZE and it got nominated for Best Collaboration at the Zim Hip-Hop Awards 2015.

Fast forward the artist is now affiliated with Drip Gang Record Label based in Pretoria. King Aktive has 1 Album,1 EP, 4 Mixtapes under his name. Together with Royne he is the co-founder of M.O.G.
