Diamond Boyz drop a dope, nostalgic song off their Echoes from the Mountains EP

The brotherhood duo, Diamond Boyz who hail from Mutare have cemented their mark within the Zimbabwean music industry with their Afro contemporary pop infused sound. Since their arrival on the scene with their hit single “Energy”. Diamond Boyz have accomplished many feats within their music journey.

From touring the United Kingdom to collaborating with some of Zimbabwe’s finest artists such Jah Prayzah, Nutty O and the international star Afro B of the Drogba smash hit, Diamond Boyz have been consistently servicing a very faithful  niche target demographic of contemporary Afro Pop listeners.

At the start of the year, Diamond Boyz where number for twelve straight weeks across Zimbabwean radio station charts with their hit song Kudakwashe meaning Gods Will which featured the UK based female disc jockey Ndinonzi DJ Mel.The song was a dedication to their late brother and all their fans who had survived or lost their loved ones during the peak of the first wave of the Covid19 pandemic. Kudakwashe was toppled off the number one spot by the new phenomenon on the block Kae Chaps who made Zimbabweans cry a river with his ground shaking single Juzi.

Diamond Boyz have been working on a EP titled  Echoes of the Mountains. The EP pays homage to their home ground Mutare “Mumakomoyo”.

The EP features notable artists such Poptain, Coco WeAfrika and Mbida Dee. Their first single off the Echoes from the Mountains EP is a new school twist on the classic Innocent Utsiwegota featuring Potato “Country Boy”.

The song talks about a young man with big city dreams. Its depicts the story of a village boys who embarks on a journey to seek greener pastures and work in the concrete jungle of the big city lights.

When his heart grows fonder of home and the becomes home sick, What keeps the young man striving to make it are the words of affirmation from his mother when she told him that he had what it took to succeed in his hunt for a better life. In other words the song speaks about their musical journey so far and how they left their home town Mutare to come to the big city lights of Harare to pursue careers in music.

The single Diamond Boy is now out across all digital platforms via the distribution platform Distrohive Music under their record label banner Wasu Musik.

The music video for the song was directed and shot by the award winning director Simba Gee in their hometown of Mutare. The duo have a long standing relationship with Simba Gee as he was also responsible for directing the duo’s first breakthrough single “Energy”
