Advokate I’s Royal Devotion EP a Reggae present to the world

Advokate I real name Gabriel Muchanyu is a South Africa based Zimbabwean recording and performing music artist in his late twenties and is making some great mature Reggae music for the world. His debut EP titled Royal devotion produced by Shumba Productions which dropped in November this year is a solid body of work.

This is one artist to keep an ear and eye on. He is talented.

Last born in a family of five. Born in Bulawayo and raised in the dusty streets of Torwood, Kwekwe. He did his primary and secondary education at George Hill and Batanai (ZISCO) High respectively before relocating to South Africa where he has been making music from.

The response to the EP had been overwhelming since day one, I can say this is a proof of penetration in the streets of Kwekwe as well as South African market as shumba productions plays a part in managing the artist.

I’ve been working with Advokate I from the beginning of 2021 up-to-date, handling the music production, graphics and visuals as well as directing where possible. I can say he’s a hardworking, dedicated and disciplined  young man who’s goal driven.

Rebel Shumba

They first released his first single Ngatigare Murudo this year in February and it did well and went on to be featured on the Mzansi Reggae magazine new music highlights. This project was followed up by his first music video for the song single Up and Down which was also shot and produced by the multi-talented creative director Rebel Shumba and the video was featured on the prestigious Reggaeville.

Rebel Shumba revealed to earGROUND how difficult it was to complete the project which started in July at the hight of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The six track Reggae EP is deep and pregnant with powerful social messages. It touches on the need for justice love, healing and light, with a rendition of Lucky Dube’s House of Exile.

The EP photoshoot, art cover design, audio recording, mixing and mastering were done at Shumba Productions studio but also had the hands of several beat makers from different countries. Allaz (Zimbabwe) did ‘House of exile and No love’ beats, Tai Tan UG (Uganda) did ‘Help her out’ beat whilst Jahrhyno (Malawi) did the most with ‘Up and down (bonus track), True love and Calling.’
