Meet The Gumiguru 50 under 30 Emerging Leaders Class of 2021.

This list was compiled by Gumiguru Incorporated, a Harare based Training and Consultancy Company and over the years Gumiguru has assisted hundreds of young entrepreneurs to formalise their businesses in Zimbabwe.

By Fungayi Sox

Overall, the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic affected the livelihoods of many people but nevertheless so many hardworking young Zimbabweans soldiered on and rose to the occasion.

It is on this background that we consider these hardworking young movers and shakers to be Emerging Leaders.

The purpose of the list as such is double pronged, first and foremost, it is to formally recognise, acknowledge and celebrate young Zimbabweans, 30 years old and below, who are doing remarkable work.

Secondly it is to inspire other contemporaries to rise to occasion in these trying times.

Since 2015, our Managing Director Simba Nyamadzawo has been motivated to publish this list based on the conviction that young people are not leaders of tomorrow but are infact the leaders of today. Young people have always been at the centre of pioneering, innovation and positive change. As Gumiguru we believe in celebrating people who are making an effort to inspire, influence and impact our generation. It is our pleasure to introduce to you the Gumiguru 50 under 30 Emerging Leaders Class of 2021.

METHODOLOGY

The list comprises 50 young Zimbabweans under 30 who are movers and shakers in their respective fields. When we were working on and adjudicating the Zimbabwe National Youth Awards in 2018, we discovered that there are a lot of young people who are doing remarkable work in Zimbabwe.

As such, this list comprises of 50 individuals born after 31 December 1990 and doing remarkable, notable or unique work worth recognizing and emulating.

Our working definition of leadership comes from Myles Munroe.

He said,

“Leadership is the capacity to influence others through inspiration motivated by passion, generated by vision, produced by a conviction, ignited by a purpose.”

The names were drawn from various sources including but not limited to media houses, nominations from individuals and organizations that work closely with the youths.

Individuals who have been listed in the preceding years will not be listed again.

Our previous honourees include Ammara Brown, Arthur Marara, Fadzayi Mahere, Maud Chifamba, Marvelous Nakamba, Tanyaradzwa Muzinda and Tammy Moyo just to name but a few.

This list is arranged in alphabetical order.

The official hashtag is #Gumiguru50under30
