For the past three years, the Rivalskool Association, in collaboration with the Alliance Française Harare, Jibilika and the Afrikera Art Trust School, has been organizing annual preselections in Zimbabwe. Every year, a Zimbabwean dancer is selected to come to France to participate in the Ultimate Battle Rivalskool, an international freestyle hip-hop dance competition.

Following the latest health measures related to the Covid 19 pandemic, we had to postpone and modify our events in France and Zimbabwe.

For this year 2021, we are launching a call for participation to all dancers, singers and musicians from Zimbabwe who wish to participate in the tenth anniversary edition of Rivalskool, which will take place on 9 and 10 October 2021 in Paris.

To celebrate this tenth anniversary, the Rivalskool team is planning a weekend of celebrations and battles, with a spotlight on music and dance, in all its forms. In this context, we wish to offer the public a Franco-Zimbabwean performance (music, singing and dance).

We are looking for talented Zimbabwean artists, motivated and interested in the cultural and artistic exchange that this represents.

We propose them a week of collaboration with French artists in Paris. This artistic collaboration will allow the valorization of both cultures, in particular by mixing the Shona language with French to create or reinterpret songs. It will conclude with a series of showcases that will allow each identity to promote itself and exchange around music and dance.

Before their departure, the selected Zimbabwean artists will be introduced to the basics of French by the Alliance Française of Harare. They will learn how to present themselves in French, which will facilitate collaboration between artists and the relationship with the audience on stage. Our goal is to build an artistic and cultural bridge between France and Zimbabwe and to achieve beautiful creations.

Conditions of participation for Zimbabwean artists :

• Have a valid passport

• Have the money to pay for your Harare-Paris plane ticket (round trip – mandatory cancellation insurance)

• Be available from 3 to 12 October 2021

• Know the sanitary measures in force in France

• Accept PCR tests

• Accept the strict conditions that Rivalskool Association will ask you to do in Paris (wearing a mask, washing hands, limiting travel, distancing …)

The Rivalskool Association supports :

• Accommodation for 1 week (7 nights)

• Meals

• The moves necessary for collaboration between artists (Paris and its suburbs)

• The visa

• Covid tests in Zimbabwe and France

Due to Covid 19, the Rivalskool Association keep the right to cancel the trip to France at any time, if the conditions are not favorable.
