Nickelodeon unveils its first African presenter, South Africa’s Lerai Rakoditsoe

Nickelodeon Africa is adding NickMusic to its line-up offering, and it will be presented by the channel’s first-ever African host 18-year-old Lerai Rakoditsoe from South Africa.

Nickelodeon is one of the world’s leading media platform for kids with original cartoons, sitcoms, movies, award shows, products, and more.

Lerai Rakoditsoe will be hosting NickMusic, a family-friendly, after school music show set to play audience favourites and tracks that resonate with both parents and children. The daily weekday show premieres on May 17, 2021 and will feature music from across the African continent and the world.

Earground caught up with the Johannesburg based model, content creator, speaker and influencer who shared her excitement for the groundbreaking appointment.

“I am excited to be part of the Nickelodeon Africa family and to be the first young African host for the channel. Having grown up watching the channel myself, I know how important it is for young minds to see someone like themselves on screen. Authentic representation is really important and to see myself on the channel is mind-blowing. I’m extremely grateful and looking forward to interacting with viewers across Africa and to show off some of my NickMusic moves.”

Lerai is passionate about the African Youth and it’s culture.

Lerai considers herself a Global Citizen where technology allows us to exist in a digital community. Her new engagement with Nickelodeon Africa will go a long way in amplifying her voice to inspire young people from the continent and beyond.


She uses her platforms to connect and collaborate in order to have strategic conversations that drive change and impact with a key focus on Youth, Entrepreneurship and Women Empowerment.

She has Co-Produced and hosted Season 1 and 2 of Sportscene’s Culture Conversations Web-Series powered by Reebok.
