The Hip Hop fraternity in Bulawayo and by extension Zimbabwe is experiencing easily the most exciting times in recent years. The genre has produced Bulawayo’s biggest pop and youth culture influencers who include, Asaph, the late Cal_vin, AWA, P.O.Y, SYKOTEK, FLOPPY X, THORNE , NABOTH RIZLA, THE DOT, CRISS_SWISS, ROCKIE DOUB, KILLEMOL, LADY EEF, MAESTRO IV, PROZAC, ORTHODOX S.I.X the list is endless.

Artists from the city have dominated radio charts and the recently hosted ZIMHIPHOP AWARDS saw Bulawayo artists and practitioners taking the bulk of the awards.
The Hip-hop summit will run under the theme #FOR THE CULTURE #LevelUp
While acknowledging that in this liquid modernity trends are ephemeral, we are strongly held to the belief that Hip hop in Bulawayo is a culture with potential to anchor the City’s creative economy as well as facilitate positive social change. However, all the positives can count for nothing if there is no strategy for growth. The King City media will be hosting a 1 day virtual workshop with a view to “seriously level up musical careers of local artists.
The KingCity’sByo Hip Hop Summit will bring together like-minded musicians for a dose of inspiration, motivation, accountability, productivity, fun, cross-promotion, and so much more.
Participants will have an opportunity to interact and with industry captains and our well selected panel in order to get a clear picture on issues they didn’t understand and also to learn from success stories of other invited guests who have been in the industry for a lengthy period.
The summit is not just for Bulawayo and its natives but for hip-hop as a whole, our objective is to dwell on Turning your craft into a business model, visibility and sustainability.
Focus will also be on understanding the landscape of Zimbabwe music industry unique to the rest of the world.
