The album is inspired by the every day struggle from the ghetto neighbourhood of Mabvuku Tafara where Huby Blakes grew up. Homeboy is an epic project that speaks of betrayal and true love.

Born Hubert Chitambara in Inyanga, the rising artist grew up in Harare and comes from humble beginnings. He attended school at Mwanandishe Primary, Mabvuku High & Herentals College.
His love music and for performing before crowds developed at an early age in primary school where he would always strive to be on every single play and event.
The stage became his home and his passion for performing never stopped growing.
In 2012 were he released his first single & video entitled “Say” and four years dropped his first EP titled “Afro Beat” with six songs which featured songs the likes of “Mai VaDhikondo” & “Wakandisiya Wani”.
Mai VaDhikondo became an instant hit and became one of the biggest songs in Zimbabwe.
In 2018 Huby Blakes released a single & video entitled “Kuroja Chete”. The following year in a quest to cement his fanbase and reach a global audience Huby Blakes signed a Marketing and Distribution deal with Jacaranda Media Group before releasing his single “Shekeda”. That same year he got nominated for the Zimbabwe Music Awards (ZIMA) for the Best Alternative Artist & Best Dance Music categories.
Now an established musician, Huby Blakes has been working on his forthcoming offering since January. The project which becomes his first Album brings together the creme dela creme of talent.
Home Boy the debut album will be released on the 14th of November 2020.
The album featured some of the finest voices such as the likes of BaShupi, Madiz, Terry Afrika, Gze & Malax.
An elated Huby spoke glowingly about his experience working with such a diverse but greatly talented collection of artists.
“It was fun and amusing how different we create crafts as artists but up coming up with some amazing melodies. The features are not artificial! I have an organic relationship with every artist on this project. I strongly believe we must vibe before we can start making music together.”
earGROUND had a chance to sample the Album. We are quite impressed by the effort and artistry put in to make the project. Without giving away too much, the artist is maturing like wine and this production will set likely set the streets on fire.
Huby named the album “Home Boy” because of its mature Zimbabwean African sound and the relatable story messages from different societies he grew up in.
In addition to the collabo artists, Huby Blakes employed the hands of some of the dopest producers we have. Quazor, Nyasha Timbe, Ishan, Fatso, Ojay & Ko’ Rale from Nigeria all were involved in cooking the album.
