Its a dark day for the arts industry in Zimbabwe! A giant in music promotion has fallen.
Ekurhuleni Boksburg hotel owner, Zimbabwean businessman and music promoter Roger Muzawazi has passed. He succumbed to diabetes.

He was instrumental in promoting Zimbabwean artists in South Africa. Artists such as the late Oliver Mtukudzi, Thomas Mapfumo, Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah, Selmor Mtukudzi, Nox, Freeman, Sulumani and many others at his venue in Johannesburg.
Muzawazi who grew up in Mutare and attended Hartzel High School left a great legacy which impacted many artists, promoters and music fans who were hosted at his venue which became a prime spot for events headlining Zimbabwean acts.
Scores of fans, artists and colleagues took to social media platforms to give their condolences.

In an interview with another leading music promoter who is also based in South Africa, Tongai Mbidzo of Xtratime Entertainment. He sayid, ” He did a lot for arts. He housed artists, small.bands at the hotel and at his house. He had a big heart. he had a strong passion to.see zim.artists flourish. He also helped many promoters.”
“He also encouraged me to nurture new talent, he encouraged me to work with Selmor and continue the shows we used to do with the late Dr Oliver Mtukudzi”
“I will remember him for fostering unity amongst.promoters. he was.willing to.work with any promoter for the betterment of Zimbabwean Arts in Johannesburg”
