Asaph made headlines earlier this year after he was added to the line up of the Burna Boy show stirring a debate about his credentials which eventually led to the twitter challenge #AsaphChallenge, where people introduced themselves and what they do.

His single which debuted in March has been making waves lately in the country with its beautiful music video that was shot in the iconic Bulawayo’s City Hall building. It has since gotten airplay on national tv and now it is taking Zim hip hop international.
Asaph joins a couple of Zim artist like Queen Vee and Buffalo Soulja who have in the past graced the DSTV channel. The two received heavy rotation and in turn increased their fame not just in Zim but on the continent as well.

Channel O has been a force on the continental music scene promoting its music with heavy roaster of localised playlists and events like the Channel O Africa Music Awards that bring across stars as far Nigeria and East Africa.
The Bulawayo rapper who changed his twitter handle to @AsaphAfrica to reflect his ambitions for a continental growth will no doubt be glad to have his music reach such a potential audience. The lyrics to this single shout out his city, address issues faced in the City of Kings & hip-hop while sprinkling some hope to all these communities.
This news is a step in the right direction for Zim hip-hop which has not performed as well as other genres like dancehall even though the country has had long history of inclination to the genre dating from the urban grooves’ era. The new acts like Asaph, Takura and Cal-vin however seem to be holding the torch and keeping the genre ablaze.
