There are songs that when they hit you for the first time you instantly know its a banger. That was the effect from a new collabo joint by Funky _ Jazz artist Vera and American artist Kojo which was produced by United Arab Emirates based Daynjr titled Grab My Waist.
The uptempo dance, love track is a pure work of talent and magic.
Kudakwashe Maria Chisvo affectionately known as Vera, fuses funk, pop and jazz in all song writing styles and techniques and she brings it all out in the song. Inspired by both local and international artists such as Hope Masike, Erykah Badu and Nneka, Vera has created her own unique genre and style. She has been spiralling up and the latest release proves she is unstoppable as she keeps courting international talent such as Kojo.
Kojo “Kojo4Eva” Robinson is a unique and refreshing TV show host for the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated show “Music 4 U”which is his brainchild. Kojo is not only a great tv host but a versatile and a talented musician who plays the guitar and sings. In the song he gels so well with Vera as the two create electrifying musical chemistry which is compelling to the ear and soul.
Kojo uses his music to inspire his listeners in the same way he was inspired by Bob Marley and Wyclef Jean. He has played in venues all over the world from Johannesburg to Kingston Jamaica and believes music is suppose to make you feel better a fete he perfectly achieves in the duet.
Excitingly the Kojo is not only doing music for himself but has been working to create good respectable platforms for new young African artists to showcase their talents and has a TV show titled M4U set to air on Botswana`s BTV and also making efforts to get it featured on MTV.
On the other hand Vera who is the programs manager for a youth social initiative Jibilika has been writing an impressive musical biography. Vera has toured Germany and Poland in 2017 and 2016, performed in Botswana at the Maun International Festival of the Arts in 2015 as one of the main acts. At home Vera has been part of several esteemed festivals such as Mambo Magic, Intwasa Festival of the Arts (2016) at the Spring Jazz Night, Musica Festival (2014), Woman’s Arts Festival (WAFEST 2015), Unplugged and this year`s HIFA festival.
The collaboration with Kojo is not her first combined efforts as she has worked with Feindrehstar (Germany) Hector Kunene (South Africa), Christopher Durand (Reunion Island), Dj Ipek, Deo Munyakazi (Rwanda), Mr Rebel, Tariro NeGitare, SoProfound, Alexio Kawara, Ammara Brown and Blessing Bled Chimanga from Zimbabwe.
Vera is very passionate about human rights especially in connection with gender based violence and also works as a dance instructor at the Zimbabwe Deaf School Trust.. An enterprising artist who launched her own jewellery label ‘Zandi Wear’ a beadwork based label that creates state of the art unique pieces for both men and women.
